Redondo Beach Luxury Real Estate

Hollywood Hills

Home of the TV series Baywatch, Redondo Beach is the largest and southernmost of the three Los AngelesBeach Cities. Redondo Beach covers over six square miles of land and is in two distant sections. The beach, harbor and marina line the coastline known asSouth Redondo Beach which has a popular Bike Trail for recreation. Surfing enthusiasts flock to Redondo Breakwall. Further inland, stretching northwards behind Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach, is the main residential area known as North Redondo Beach. This area also has some aerospace and engineering businesses. The original beach homes and arts-and-crafts style housing has mostly given way to modern housing with some zones being developed as small blocks of luxury townhomes. There is a citywide height restriction of 32 feet for new builds, but rooftop terraces are permitted.

Like its neighbors, Redondo Beach has a municipal pier for fishing and stunning sandy beaches which are a popular draw for tourists, surfers, boating and sports enthusiasts. The pier area was originally used by the fishing and canning industries. It was regenerated in the 1990s as a small business district, focusing mainly on beachwear and surfing equipment. The revitalized downtown area is now known as Riviera Village and provides a quiet area for shopping, dining and wine tasting. The marina is next to a power plant which is listed to become inactive. In the meantime, it features one of Redondo Beach’s eye-catching landmarks – a 586-foot long mural entitled “Gray Whale Migration” by Robert Wyland. The marina area has several waterfront restaurants, a seafood retailer and a pub boasting 100 beers on tap. Wide streets and a laid-back lifestyle make the area a popular place to visit or live. Friendly neighborhoods in North Redondo Beach promote a community atmosphere by hosting street parties and events. Excellent shopping can be found at the South Bay Galleria and along Artesia Blvd, while cultural attractions include the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, home to the Los Angeles Ballet.
