Palos Verdes Luxury Real Estate

Palos Verdes is a peninsula presiding over the South Bay from an elevation of 1,450 feet at its summit. It lies west of Terminal Island and the Port of Los Angeles and south of Redondo Beach and Torrance. Palos Verdes is divided into four cities: Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes and Palos Verdes Estates. The coastline of Palos Verdes is famous for its rocky coves, ocean cliffs, lighthouse and big waves, making it an exceptional place for surfing. Tiny coves and beaches include scenic Bluff Cove, popular for surfing and snorkeling with very little sand. Similarly rocky with tide pools is Christmas Tree Cove which separates Rancho Palos Verdes from Palos Verdes Estates. Honeymoon Cove has beautiful homes built right on the edge with beach access via a steep trail. Lunada Bay is popular for surfing and beachcombing and has the shipwreck of the Dominator visible at its northern point. Malaga Cove Beach is the sandiest cove at Palos Verdes and is accessed by a trail while Palos Verdes Estates Shoreline Preserve is popular for clifftop walks, beachcombing and enjoying stunning ocean views.
Further inland, Palos Verdes is a green oasis of horse trails and nature walks amidst ancient Eucalyptus trees, living up to its name which means “green woods”. Part of the original Dominguez and Sepulveda ranchos, the peninsula was bought by a New York syndicate in the early 20th century for a price that would barely buy a single-family home in the area today. The Olmsted pothers, designers of Manhattan’s Central Park, designed the planned communities providing strong architectural themes and preserving green open space. Such is the respect for nature that most streets are not lit after dark, preserving the rural atmosphere of this nature preserve. At the hub of Palos Verdes are several high-end neighborhoods providing multi-million dollar homes in a beautiful natural setting.
Palos Verdes Blvd/Drive is one of the most scenic drives in the US. The winding route follows the clifftop with breathtaking views of the glittering Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island.
